Memphis, TN: Memphis slaying suspect arrested in S.A.

A Memphis, Tenn., man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend in November and arrested last month remains in Bexar County custody, awaiting extradition.
Michael Lynn Davis, 34, is being held without bail at Bexar County Jail on one count of second-degree murder and one count of evading arrest.
Although he was arrested Dec. 23 in Universal City, accused of fleeing an officer during a traffic stop, he wasn't charged in the death of Lataska Applewhite, 38, until Monday morning.
Bexar County officials said they weren't sure why the charge was delayed.
According to the Memphis Police Department's Facebook page, a warrant for Davis' arrest was issued Dec. 1 after officials found Applewhite shot to death at her home Nov. 29.
Applewhite was pronounced dead at the scene, and investigators allege that Davis was responsible. Police did not release a motive in the killing, other than to say that it was fueled by a domestic dispute.
Memphis police thought that Davis was still in the city, living out of motels, according to published reports.
