Concord, NC: Two killed, one injured in Concord shooting

CONCORD, NC --
A man and woman were found shot to death Sunday night after a Concord Police officer patrolling the Broad Drive area heard gunshots, officials said.

Isidra Ramos Sarabio, 30, and Eladio Hernandez-Pelaez, 54, were the victims of an apparent murder-suicide, Concord Police Chief Guy Smith said late Sunday night. It appeared that Hernandez-Pelaez shot Sarabio before turning the gun on himself, Smith said.

A third victim, Fredy Guzman, 33, was also found shot at the crime scene. He was taken to CMC-NorthEast and appears to have a non-life threatening injury, according to a press release.

The shooting occurred about 7:15 p.m. Sunday at 342 Broad Drive, Concord. A Concord Police officer patrolling the area encountered Guzman, who suffered a gunshot wound. Guzman indicated a disturbance.

Officers investigated further and found Sarabio and Hernandez-Pelaez shot to death in the backyard, Smith said.

Sarabio is believed to be the estranged wife of Hernandez-Pelaez, Smith said. She was living at 342 Broad Drive with family and friends. Hernandez-Pelaez’s current address was not known as of press time.

Investigators believe Hernandez-Pelaez arrived at the house on Broad Drive, uninvited, and confronted the residents, including his estranged wife.

Detectives were still at the crime scene late Sunday night. Crime scene tape marked off the yard surrounding the home on Broad Drive. A Concord Police Department patrol car blocked the road at the corner of Broad Avenue and Graham Drive.

Police were still investigating what lead to the confrontation late Sunday night.

“We’re trying to do some background to see what the relationship was,” Smith said. “But right now we can’t say what caused this.”
