A Bond Hill man admitted Wednesday he
shot and killed a woman, but because it
was accidental he will go to prison for two
years for it.
Donald Gordon, 38, pleaded guilty to
reckless homicide and a weapons charge
stemming from the April 25 fatal shooting
of Janece Murell, 19.
"It was an accident. That's why he wasn't
charged with murder," said Gordon's
attorney, Clyde Bennett II. Bennett said
Murell was Gordon's girlfriend.
The maximum prison sentence for the
charges was 10 years.
Authorities reported Gordon pointed a
9mm handgun at her, apparently unaware
there was a bullet in the gun's chamber,
and shot her in the shoulder, killing her.
Bennett said there is an agreed sentence of
two years which will be imposed by
Hamilton County Common Pleas Court
Judge John "Skip" West at the Dec. 14
hearing. A cocaine possession charge
against Gordon was dismissed.
