A woman who was arrested 25 years after police said she shot and killed her boyfriend pleaded guilty to 3rd degree murder Monday.
Lucinda Andrews was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in state prison following her admission in court that she killed John Mayerchak.
His body was found inside his apartment on East 7th Street in Northampton, Northampton County, in September 1985.
Andrews was arrested in Florida in October 2010 after a grand jury reopened an investigation of the cold case.
Andrews and Mayerchak were dating at the time of the murder and that Andrews later admitted to a friend that she killed Mayerchak for money, said investigators, who added that DNA evidence also linked Andrews to the crime scene.
Andrews' sentence will run consecutive to time she will serve in an outstanding drug case in Lehigh County from 1990, said court officials, who added that her total time in prison will end up being between 12 and 24 years.
