A woman is believed to have shot her husband before she set their home on fire and turned the gun on herself in Montgomery County Tuesday evening.
The shooting and fire occurred at a home at 614 W. Weisinger in the Magnolia area about 5 p.m., according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies identified the couple as Floyd Meeks, 64, and Nancy Meeks, 66.
Floyd Meeks died at the scene. His wife was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
Deputies said firefighters were dispatched to the blaze and found Floyd Meeks lying in the front yard of the home. He had been shot multiple times in the torso and leg.
Firefighters battled the flames and then found Nancy Meeks inside the home, deputies said. She had single gunshot wound in her head.
Deputies said investigators believe Nancy Meeks shot her husband. Then she lit the fire and shot herself, deputies said. The couple had been married about 20 years.
The case is still being investigated.
