LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Gwinnett police named Matt Leili a suspect in the death of his wife Nikki Leili.
The victim's body was found Saturday in a wooded area near her Lawrenceville home.
Family members and friends of the victim discovered the body buried under leaves during a ground search.
The victim's husband did not participate in the search.
"Since he's not under arrest he could be anywhere," Amy Elk, the victim's sister said.
Elk said she was concerned for the safety of her two young nieces who are with the suspect.
"Our main focus is to take care of the girls and make sure they are safe," Elk said.
On July 9 Leili disappeared. Elk said that's when Matt's Leili's bizarre behavior began.
"We filed initial police reports, my mother did, he filed for divorce when she had been gone for four days," Elk said.
CBS Atlanta obtained a copy of the divorce records filed by Matt Leili just days after his wife had been reported missing.
In his complaint the suspect stated his wife had abandoned him and their two young children.
The suspect also said they had been separated since July 9, the same date Leili disappeared.
Elk said what's even more unusual is Matt refused to help search for his wife.
"He took down fliers, always getting in our way instead of helping us," Elk said.
And that's not the only thing Elk claims is suspicious.
"They had 24 hours surveillance going at all times and magically the morning she disappeared they were turned off," Elk said.
CBS Atlanta news went to the suspect's attorney's office, we were told he had no comment.
No one at the suspect's home would reveal the location of the suspect.
