JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police said they arrested a woman Saturday morning, shortly after she ran over and killed a man on the Westside.
Sgt. Lonnie Mills, a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide detective, said officers were called to McDuff Avenue and Interstate 10 about 4 a.m. Saturday to a crash with injuries at the on-ramp. He said a witness told them she saw a woman in an SUV run over and kill a man later identified as 37-year-old Lamarca Wilcox. Police said the witness provided officers with a vehicle description and tag number.
Responders found the woman, 39-year-old Vonice Green, at the scene and took her in for questioning, according to Mills.
Later Saturday morning, police decided to arrest Green and charge her with murder. Investigators said Green and Wilcox were in a relationship and it appeared the two had been in some sort of an argument.
Green was being held at the Duval County Pre-Trial Detention Facility without bond. Court records show Green has been in trouble with the law before. She has been convicted of child abuse, battery and possession of cocaine.
Detectives said they were not searching for anyone else in the case.
