Clare County investigators say they think the weekend deaths of two people at a residence west of Lake Station was a murder-suicide.
Clare County Sheriff John Wilson said Tuesday that the bodies of Randall Kram, 61, of Cedar, and his estranged wife, Carrie Kram, 51, of Lake Isabella, were found Sunday at the residence near Bass Lake in Garfield Township.
The pair were discovered in a bedroom of the home. Both appeared to have died of gunshot wounds.
Wilson said in a prepared statement that Carrie Kram apparently had been on a Fourth of July weekend visit to family members at the home, located in a rural area about 3 miles northwest of Lake Station in western Clare County. It wasn’t clear why Randall Kram was there.
The couple apparently had been separated for a period of time, Wilson said.
The sheriff’s statement said that autopsies were scheduled for this week to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators did not reveal whom they believed to have been the shooter, and did not release other details of the incident.
Investigators from the Michigan State Police crime lab gathered evidence at the scene.
