Nathaniel Gordon, 32, shot his wife, Sarah Gordon, 30, near their home on Marie Street, state police spokesman Steve McCausland said in a statement late Monday.
Nathaniel Gordon fled the scene, but his vehicle was spotted by state troopers, who followed him along the Maine Turnpike through Lewiston.
The chase ended about 9:10 p.m. near the Gray interchange.
“He went over a spike mat and that deflated one tire,” McCausland said.
He said troopers told him that the driver then shot and killed himself.
Autopsies are scheduled for today at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta.
