WEST FORK, Ark. — The Washington County Sheriff's Office says a man fatally shot his estranged wife and then shot himself to death outside a residence near West Fork.
Deputy Kelly Cantrell said Wednesday officers were called to the residence after a neighbor reported seeing the husband's truck outside his wife's residence. The couple's son found his parents and called authorities.
Officials identified the couple as Robert Heyliger and Geri Heyliger.
Officials believe Heyliger shot his wife after she got out of her car. His body was found with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Both bodies are being sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
Officials say Robert Heyliger was arrested March 12 for assault on a family member.
Geri Heyliger had obtained a protective order.
What a shame!!! Geri was a very sweet and kind woman who would help anyone with anything. It is so sad that a person can be so selfish to take his wife's life and then his own. What about your children??!! Rest in peace Geri... everyone please keep their two sons in your prayers...
ReplyDeleteI agree!! What kind of sick person would do that knowing that your son would come home and find you?!?! And from what I've heard some members of the family have the nerve to put some of the blame on her because she filed for divorce?!!! Who would blame her for wanting to get away from this violent sick man?!
