SACRAMENTO, Calif.—A man described by prosecutors as a "jealous boyfriend" will be spending the rest of his life in prison for the killing of a Sacramento woman.
After jurors last month convicted David Denson of murder and other charges for the 2009 murder of Dusty Rose Vasquez, prosecutors say the 32-year-old Denson was sentenced to 153 years to life on Friday.
The Sacramento Bee reports that police and prosecutors say Denson went to a man's house he believed was seeing his girlfriend. Vasquez, who was the man's sister, was shot when she went to the door.
The newspaper says Denson also attempted to shoot other family members who were in the house.
Besides murder, Denson was also convicted and sentenced for attempted murder and for being a felon in possession of a gun.
