New Orleans, LA: 17-year-old booked with manslaughter in shooting of his girlfriend

A 17-year-old man was arrested Monday moments after, he fatally shot his girlfriend of the same age, police said.


Isaac Felician was booked with manslaughter.
A preliminary investigation indicates that prior to the shooting Felician and the victim struggled over a gun, according to a news release.
Kassia Benton of Marrero was shot in an arm and then the bullet entered her chest, said John Gagliano, a spokesman for the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office.
The shooting occurred in eastern New Orleans in the 4900 block of Gawain Drive shortly after 11 a.m.
Officers found the girl in Felician's residence, police said. She was dead at the scene.
Homicide Detective Baret Morton is in charge of the investigation.
