Asheville, NC: WOMAN CHARGED WITH ARSON, KILLING CATS
An asheville woman is in jail accused of killing her boyfriend's cats in a fire she allegedly set in her own home. 59-year-old Laurel Bishop is charged with second degree arson and three felony counts of cruelty to animals. Investigators say Bishop set the fire over a domestic dispute with her boyfriend, who wasn't home at the time. They believe the blaze might have been an act of retribution. Buddy Thompson says Bishop asked about the cats after investigators caught up with her. They also say she was remorseful over the death of the animals. Bishop is in the Buncombe County Detention Center on an $8,000 bond. Necropsies on the three cats are pending.
