Sacramento, CA: Sacramento man who strangled wife due parole hearing

A Sacramento man who strangled his wife and dumped her nude body in the American River Canyon is due a parole hearing this month.
A Placer County Superior Court judge on May 10, 1995, sentenced Mark William Follis, now 55, to 22 years to life in prison.
Two people discovered the body of Susan Follis, 32, on April 10, 1995 when they stopped to enjoy the view.
Mark Follis admitted strangling the victim, a school cafeteria worker.
Follis had been out of prison about one month when he killed the victim. His prison term was for spousal abuse.
Follis has a history of criminal activity dating to 1975. He has been sentenced to prison three times.
Follis' hearing will be April 20 at the Folsom State Prison, Folsom, where he is incarcerated.

  1. I will advocate for my mom as long as I live. It was 6 days before my 14th birthday that he took her life. I am now 32 years old the same age my mother was when she was murdered.I have attended both parole hearings and will continue to do so. She may be gone but not forgotten. - Trina
