Starksville, MS: Murder retrial of Columbus man delayed

Associated Press - February 3, 2011 5:04 AM ET

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - An Oktibbeha County judge has rescheduled for May the retrial of a Columbus man charged in the 2005 death of on-again, off-again girlfriend.

Floyd Robinson's attorneys had asked for more time to prepare for his second trial. The trial had been set for Monday.

In 2007, Robinson was convicted of the shooting death of Bridget Moore and sentenced to life in prison.

In 2010, the Mississippi Supreme Court ordered a new trial. The court said the jury should not have seen a videotape in which police asked Robinson about earlier domestic violence allegations made against him by Moore and another girlfriend.

Prosecutors say Moore was found inside her Starkville home by a sheriff's deputy, who had gone there at the request of Moore's family.
