A man upset with his 26-year-old daughter grabbed a shotgun Saturday, went to her apartment, and fired multiple rounds through the door, around the building's second floor balcony, and into the parking lot as she and her boyfriend cowered inside.
The terrified pair and their neighbors survived. Michael Morrow, 66, was shot and killed by a Hollywood police officer.
The incident began just before 10 a.m. Saturday morning, when Morrow, who neighbors said occasionally stayed in an apartment in the same building belonging to his ex-wife, arrived at no. 209, 5790 Stirling Road.
Instead of knocking on his Corrine Morrow's door, he began a shooting spree by firing into her apartment.
"He actually went to his car, reloaded and went back to the door and continued to shoot until the officers' arrival," said department spokesperson Lt. Norris Redding. He also shot up the parking lot and a second-floor balcony area.
Morrow, in fact, was still firing as responding officers took up tactical positions around the building, and as one of them returned fire with an AR-15 assault rifle. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Redding classified the incident as “domestic-related violence...there's no telling what he could have done once he got into the apartment."
