Human remains found in Madison County have been identified as a missing Richmond woman, according to the county coroner.
Meantime, police in Somerset arrested the woman's husband Thursday after a hostage situation turned into a standoff. The Madison County Sheriff's Office says 25 year old Angela Singleton's body was found in a farm field off of Tattlers Branch Road. Police say she hadn't been seen since she left her house Sunday morning following a domestic dispute. Investigators say they later found her car burning and abandonded along I-75 in Fayette County.
Somerset Police confirm that Angela Singleton's husband, Jason was arrested Thursday on several charges including unlawful imprisonment after police say he took hostages at a trucking company following a police chase. Investigators say it began with a report of a man with a gun at the Somerset Mall. Police say Singleton had left the mall in a stolen car by the time they arrived, and ended up crashing that car.
Authorties say Singleton then ran into a trucking company where he barricaded himself inside and held four employees at gunpoint for about fifteen minutes.
Police were able to talk Singleton into giving himself up peacefully. No injuries were reported.
Somerset Police say State Police did question Singleton about his wife's homicide Thursday. So far, no charges have been filed in that case.
