An Amish man who killed his wife in a schizophrenic frenzy in 1993 has been found dead on his property in northwestern Pennsylvania.
The Erie Times-News reports that 45-year-old Edward Gingerich was found hanged inside a barn in Rockdale Township on Friday.
Crawford County Chief Deputy Coroner Scott Schell ruled the death a suicide.
Gingerich has said he killed his 29-year-old wife with a kitchen knife to exorcise the devil and because she planned to attend a wedding without him.
In 1994, he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter but found mentally ill.
Gingerich was sentenced to 2 1/2 to 5 years in prison. He was released in 1998.
