Denver, CO: Body in lake identified as Denver murder suspect

The Lewis County, Washington, sheriff's office says a body found in Riffe (RIF) Lake last summer has been identified as a 49-year-old man sought in a murder investigation in Denver.

CHEHALIS, Wash. —
The Lewis County, Washington, sheriff's office says a body found in Riffe (RIF) Lake last summer has been identified as a 49-year-old man sought in a murder investigation in Denver.

Cmdr. Steve Aust says DNA tests determined the body is that of James A. Sprague, of Denver, who was being investigated in the March death of his girlfriend. The badly decomposed body was found July 28 in the lake about 25 miles east of Chehalis, and identification was found in a backpack next to it. But Aust says the county coroner was only able to make a positive identification on Monday after tests came back.
