SIERRA VISTA — Police have released the identity of a man who kidnapped his former girlfriend and beat her current boyfriend before killing himself.
Early Thursday, Alan R. Macier, 46, of Sierra Vista is believed to have forced the couple at gunpoint into their apartment at Garden Plaza Apartments, 100 Golf Links Road, as they returned home.
While there, Macier reportedly bound the two with handcuffs and proceeded to beat the 27-year-old boyfriend with a blunt object several times in the head, causing minor injuries, police Detective Thomas Ransford said.
The boyfriend also reported being shocked with a Taser-like device that was later recovered, Ransford said.
Macier eventually left the apartment with the female, 21, ending up on Miller Canyon Road, where, at about 4:15 a.m., she was released.
The woman did not report any injuries.
Police arrived at the scene a short time later to find Macier dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head that was later verified by an examination by the Cochise County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A pistol was also recovered at the scene.
Two separate search warrants were executed during the course of investigation at a residence and on a vehicle, Ransford said.
The male victim was treated for his injuries at the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center and released that day.
