LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A 36-year-old Lincoln woman who stabbed to death her estranged boyfriend was given 15 to 20 years in prison.
Lisa Ramirez-Rodriguez had pleaded no contest to manslaughter after prosecutors lowered the charge from second-degree murder. She was sentenced on Monday.
Police say the victim, 31-year-old Christopher Grant, and Ramirez-Rodriguez had a violent history together. Officers had intervened in fights between the two several times.
The Lincoln Journal Star says that when Grant died last November, he and Ramirez-Rodriguez weren't living together.
Police say Ramirez-Rodriguez told officers that she stabbed Grant with a steak knife. She wouldn't say why.
She also told police she didn't want him to die.
