A call by a teenager to Floyd 911 left both City and County Law Enforcement scrambling to the Booger Hollow community following a shooting Wednesday afternoon.
According to Public Safety Radio Traffic, a 14 year old called 911 just before 5:00 PM from a home at 1637 Booger Hollow Road to report a female had been shot in the neck. As Police, Fire, and EMS units rushed to the scene, it was reported that a male at the same location was also down with a self-inflicted gun shot wound. Jeffery Ware shot and killed his wife, 47 year-old Jeannie.
Police arrived and reported additional shots fired, before they checked the two victims and cleared the scene so that Fire and EMS workers could safely enter. The teen had reportedly evacuated the scene and ran to safety at a neighbors house.
According to sources, the man and woman involved were married, and the caller was their son. Police believe there was a domestic dispute that led the male to shoot his wife 3 times with a handgun, before he shot himself inside the home. The source also told RNW that the female was pronounced dead once she reached Floyd Medical Center.
Fire and EMS personnel were on scene and tending to the victims by 5:10 pm. Police had also called an FCPD Evidence Specialist to the scene, along with the coroner a short time later. Meanwhile, officers from the other local Law Enforcement agencies were assisting with traffic control.
Booger Hollow Road between Miller Mountain Road and Lyons Bridge Road were completely shut down.
