Horry County, SC: Charges not expected in Horry County shooting

by Graeme Moore

The Horry County Solicitor's Office said Saturday charges are not likely in Thursday's shooting death of a Murrells Inlet man.

Deputy Solicitor Jimmy Richardson said the case is still under review, but he said his office doesn't plan to pursue criminal charges in connection to the shooting.

"We don't plan to file charges, and no one has been arrested," he said.

On Thursday, Sean Johnson, 48, was shot and killed at a home in the Indigo Creek subdivision. The home belongs to Johnson's mother and step father.

The solicitor's office, nor police, will confirm who actually shot the man, but police have described the shooting as stemming from a domestic issue.

Investigators will re-interview Johnson's mother and step father on Monday to "clarify some statements," but again, charges aren't expected.

In August, Johnson barricaded himself in his home on Goude Street in Murrells Inlet and ignited a standoff with Georgetown County deputies.

Police were called to the home after Johnson's girlfriend said Johnson was threatening her. After a brief escape from the home, Johnson was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence.
