Cleveland, MS: Miss. man accepts plea deal in wife's death

CLEVELAND, Miss. (AP) - A retired Mississippi game warden charged in the shooting death of his wife has accepted a plea bargain and will serve up to 20 years for manslaughter.

Sylvester Johnson was charged with first-degree murder in June 2 death of his 47-year-old wife.

Rhonda Johnson was found dead in the driveway of the couple's Tunica home.

The Commercial Appeal reports the 52-year-old Johnson accepted the plea bargain on Tuesday in Bolivar County Circuit Court in Cleveland, Miss., for manslaughter.

His trial was slated to begin next week.
