Trussville Police are investigating a double murder suicide. Police Chief Don Sivley says, he is 99.9 percent sure Larry Pierce, shot and killed his family. They believe he first went to his guest house and shot his autistic brother William Pierce Jr., better known as “Billy” before returning to the main house and shooting his wife Sharon Pierce. Police then believe he went to his car, got inside and turned the gun on himself. Police still do not have a motive for the crime, but Tom Foster who has lived next door to the family for the past 18 years is shocked by the shooting.
“They are a wonderful family. They have always been wonderful neighbor’s dog lovers and friendly people. They were always there when you needed them and not there if you didn’t need them. W are all just heart broken over what has happened,” says Foster.

Larry and his brother lived in my neighborhood when we were children. Larry was in my class from 2nd grade through 12th. Sharon, his wife, was in high school with us as well. Billy, his brother, did not attend our school nor did any of us ever know much about him. This was the 50's and 60's. Children like Billy were kept inside and hidden. This is so tragic and troubling - good people, sweet people. My heart hurts.
