A man who was being pursued by police cars after the stabbing death of a young woman on Long Island has apparently killed himself.
Suffolk County police said 26-year-old Genis Walker of Central Islip was found dying of a gunshot to the head Friday morning. Police had used a puncturing device to flatten his tires and stop his car in Farmingville.
Officers were chasing him because he had been identified by witnesses as the killer earlier Friday of 22-year-old Jessica Hernandez of Central Islip. Newsday reported that Hernandez was Walker's girlfriend.
Police also are investigating whether Walker was involved in the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Arthur Ward, who was killed at his home Friday. Newsday said Ward was a mutual friend of Walker and his girlfriend.
"The couple see him in the driveway and they come out. Words are exchanged between the man and the male of the couple ... and the man starts shooting," said Det. Sgt. Thomas Groneman of the Homicide Squad, told Newsday.
The second victim was shot and killed outside his home as he stood near his partner, although she was not hurt.
