EASTLAKE, Ohio -- Eastlake --Police are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred in the midst of a divorce.
A 44-year-old husband shot his wife in the head before turning the gun on himself in the living room of their Spindrift Drive home, Lt. Bill Gutowski said.
A neighbor called police at 7:34 a.m. Monday after the couple's 11-year-old daughter ran to a neighbor's house. She got up for school, saw her bloody mother and ran to the house across the street, Gutowski said.
Police found the girl's 8-year-old brother in his room and took him out of the house.
Their 44-year-old mother, Tamara Roman, was dead on the couch with a gunshot wound to the head. Their father, Dennis Roman, was sitting in a recliner, covered with a blanket. He shot himself in the forehead, Gutowski said.
Investigators did not find a suicide note.
Police hadn't been called to the house in the past.
Tamara Roman filed for divorce July 15. She did not ask for a protection order to keep her husband away from her. Police were trying to determine if Dennis Roman still lived in the house.
He was requesting joint custody in the divorce case.
