Audubon, NJ: Services set for Audubon man killed

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday for Matthew Hus, the victim of a fatal stabbing in Audubon Park over the weekend.



The 21-year-old Audubon resident died early Saturday from his injuries. His girlfriend, Paige Pfefferle, 19, is charged with murder and is being held in the Camden County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail. She is expected to have a court appearance this week.

According to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, the stabbing occurred around 2 a.m. during an argument in Pfefferle's home on Pelican Drive in Audubon Park.

Hus was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, where he was pronounced dead at 4 a.m.

The prosecutor's office has not released any other details about the stabbing.

Hus, who lived on Merchant Street, was a lifelong borough resident and a 2008 graduate of Audubon High School.

According to his obituary, he was a member of the Green Wave football team and enjoyed hunting, skiing and fishing.

He worked for the Carpenters Union in Gloucester City and was taking part in the construction of the new Virtua Hospital on Route 73 in Voorhees.

The family plans a viewing Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Healey Funeral Home, 9 White Horse Pike in Haddon Heights. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Maternity Church of the Emmaus Catholic Community, 431 W. Nicholson Road, Audubon.

Pfefferle is a 2009 Audubon High graduate and was attending La Salle University. She also was a coach for the Oaklyn Cats, a cheerleading group.
