Daniel Paulsrud, who allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend Leslie Davidson on Thanksgiving day in Fort Benton, has now been officially charged with deliberate homicide.
Chouteau County Attorney Steve Gannon filed the charge against Paulsrud on Friday.
According to court documents, when Fort Benton police responded to the scene, they found Paulsrud on his hands and knees with a gunshot wound to the face. He could not speak but was able to communicate that he shot himself under the chin.
Paulsrud also communicated that he shot Davidson, who was found dead inside an apartment.
Paulsrud appeared in court on Monday via video from the Cascade County Detention center, but Gannon says he's being transferred to the Chouteau County jail.
He is scheduled to enter his plea in Chouteau County in the next few weeks.

Authorities believe Paulsrud killed 50-year old Leslie Davidson, then turned the gun on himself. Paulsrud survived the gunshot, but due to the severity of his injuries he's still hospitalized, listed in stable condition at Seattle's Harborview Medical Center.
Davidson and Paulsrud were involved in a relationship at the time of the shooting. Chouteau County Attorney says officers investigating the case will be submitting their reports and he will review them to determine charges in the case.
(November 27, 2009) Authorities have released the names of the victim and suspect involved in a murder and attempted suicide in Fort Benton on Thanksgiving day. The victim is 50-year old Leslie Davidson; she died of gunshot wound and was found at the scene on Chouteau Street in Fort Benton.
The suspect in the case has been identified as 38-year old Daniel Paulsrud; investigators believe Paulsrud killed Davidson and then turned the gun on himself. Davidson and Paulsrud had been involved in a relationship and living together. Neither of them lived at the apartments where the shooting occurred.
Paulsrud is currently listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Seattle's Harborview Medical Center. Chouteau County Attorney Steve Gannon indicated that no charges have been filed yet.
We've been told by neighbors in the area that the property was owned by Davidson's family and that she was in the process of remodeling the apartments.
May 9, 2011 was sentencing for Mr. Paulsrud. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 10 years for the use of a weapon during the crime.
