Authorities in DeLand, and family members of Jacqueline Delrey admit they fear the missing DeLand woman is dead.
Delrey was the girlfriend of convicted sex offender Gerry Orr who committed suicide last week when deputies tried to serve him with a search warrant in a sexual assault case.
Family and friends of Delrey said they never would have suspected Orr was living a double life or was a convicted sex offender. Delrey only found out about Orr's past on June 17th when deputies arrived to register his address with the sex offender list.
Delrey met Orr over the internet two years ago and would commute from Port St. Lucie to DeLand on the weekends to meet Orr. She moved to Volusia County in 2009 to live with Orr.
Orr was accused of taking a woman into his home and doing drugs with her for several hours in July. When the woman decided to leave Orr held her against her will for three days and repeatedly raped her. The woman escaped after agreeing to go with Orr to Sanford to buy more drugs. Officials said the woman told them she never saw Delrey in the time she was with Orr.
Delrey's sister was the last to speak to her on July 13th. Since that time she has not contacted any family or friends, including her children.
Colleagues at a drug treatment center at 34 Dirksen Drive in DeBary, where Delrey volunteered, told her sister and authorities Delrey has not been to the center for three weeks, which they describe as unusual.
Authorities are actively searching for Delrey and are concerned for her well being since Orr killed himself. Police announced Friday Delrey's insulin, which she is dependent on, dog and car's license plates were found inside the house on Old New York Ave.
Police are searching for Delrey's white 1994 BMW, which a neighbor said Orr sold days before he killed himself. Orr told the neighbor he sold it to a man on Craigslist.
Delrey told her sister on July 13th she was leaving Orr after she discovered he was abusing drugs and having an affair with the 23-year-old woman he is accused of raping. She also told her sister Orr had started to become abusive towards her and she was scared of him.
Police learned two weeks before he died Orr started selling off all of Delrey's belongings online to buy drugs and started moving in people who were also abusing drugs.
Authorities with the Volusia County Sheriff's office are encouraging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Jacqueline Delrey to contact them immediately at 386-736-5999.
