RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A woman convicted of killing her boyfriend in September 2007 is asking for her sentence to be reduced.
Cheri Miranda was sentenced to 15 years in prison with seven suspended for second-degree manslaughter in the killing of her boyfriend Richard Standing Bear.
Miranda was back in court Monday, and her attorney asked Circuit Judge A.P. Fuller to suspend an additional one to two years of her sentence.
She said Miranda wants to be involved in an intensive methamphetamine treatment program.
A relative of Standing Bear told the court she opposes the reduction.

(NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
