A Miami man was arrested Friday on charges he killed his wife -- a gruesome stabbing police say happened in front of the couple's 13-year-old daughter.
Police say Guillermo Cora, 49, fatally stabbed Stella Garcia Decora, 42, in their apartment on Northwest First Street and Ninth Avenue.
A neighbor reporting hearing a commotion around 5 p.m. and called for help.
When officers arrived, they saw ``an extreme amount of blood throughout the apartment,'' Miami Police Sgt. Confessor Gonzalez said.
Cora was standing over his wife's body, a knife in hand.
Police said he had a large cut on his neck, which appeared to be self inflicted.
The husband and wife were rushed to Ryder Trauma Center.
Cora, who was in stable condition, was later charged with first-degree murder.
Police did not know what motivated the killing.
The couple has three children, but their teenage daughter was the only one home at the time.
She was mourning the loss of her mother with family and friends, Gonzalez said.
``It's horrible to see the uncertainty in this little girl's eyes,'' he said. ``The horror, the pain. It's indescribable.''
