From Staff Reports
The estranged husband of an Arlington woman who was fatally shot in her back yard this morning turned himself in to police less than an hour later.
Patrick Arnold
Linda Kay Arnold, 59, was shot repeatedly shortly before 8 a.m. at the home in the 4100 block of Green Acres Circle in southwest Arlington. She was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where she was pronounced dead.
The victim was in the process of divorcing the suspect, 67-year-old Patrick Edward Arnold, who surrendered about a half-hour after the slaying.
Patrick Arnold is being held on a murder charge at the Arlington Jail. His bail was set at $100,000.
Fatal shooting at home
Neighbors witnessed the gunman beat down Linda Arnold's door and yelled at him to leave her alone. Instead, police said, he turned to the woman and shot her repeatedly.
He then fled in a white Lexus sport utility vehicle, which later turned up at the South Arlington police station where he surrendered.
Police had been called to the home twice since Linda Arnold moved in, once in April on a criminal mischief call and last month for a domestic dispute that involved the suspect.
Linda Arnold's neighbors say they had been watching out for her because she was in fear of her husband.
