Bradenton, FL: Bradenton police charge husband in death of wife's lover in crash

BRADENTON - A 27-year-old man who caught his wife and another man having sex in a pickup truck and then chased them at high speeds from downtown to west Bradenton has been charged with causing the May 5 crash that killed the man, according to police.
Blair William J. Hohmeister of Bradenton was arrested earlier this evening at his residence on 67th Terrace East in East Manatee.
He was being held without bond a charge of vehicular homicide in the death of Jason Evangelista, 35, a Bradenton eye doctor. He also faces six counts of reckless driving, including for serious injuries suffered by his wife, Ashley Nicole Hohmeister, in the crash, according to an arrest warrant affidavit filed by Bradenton police investigators.

Blake Hohmeister was not seriously hurt in the crash near the intersection of 17th Avenue West and 43rd Street West.
The incident started about 11:15 p.m. when Hohmeister found his wife and Evangelista having sex in his pickup truck in the parking lot of Bradenton City Center, near Bradenton police headquarters.
Evaneglista drove away and Hohmeister followed in his Honda Accord. Soon they were racing through downtown, along Manatee Avenue West, 26th Street West and then west on 17th Avenue West, reaching estimated speeds of up to 100 mph and running through several stop signs, according to the report.
After passing through the 43rd Street intersection, Evangelista hit a drainage culvert and rolled his truck on its left side. The truck hit some trees and flipped end over end several times before coming to rest in a yard.
Evangelista suffered a "catastrophic" injury to his head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nicole Hohmeister, 24, suffered a serious leg injury.
