PEKIN, Ill. (AP) ― A central Illinois man has been charged with five counts of first-degree murder in the 2008 death of his wife.
Daniel Cleary was charged Friday in Tazewell County Circuit Court in Pekin. Bond was set at $3 million. He has not entered a plea and it isn't clear whether he has obtained legal representation.
Railway workers found 30-year-old MeLisa Cleary's body in June 2008 near a spot where railroad tracks cross Interstate 155 near Hartsburg in Logan County. That's about 50 miles south of Peoria. An autopsy found that she died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck.
Daniel Cleary was arrested Wednesday night at his apartment in Normal.
The couple lived in Macomb, about 60 miles southwest of Peoria. Their three children are in foster care.
