Ouachita Parish sheriff’s deputies are searching for a Monroe man suspected of shooting his estranged girlfriend early Saturday morning.

Sheriff Royce Toney said his office has filed an arrest warrant for 34-year-old Sakou Hunter on charges of second-degree murder.

According to the sheriff, deputies responded to 306 Grant Drive in eastern Ouachita Parish on a call about a shooting. An investigation revealed children were in another room at the residence shortly before the shooting and heard Hunter argue with the occupant, Natalie Davis, 34. Davis tried to run from the bedroom to the carport, where she was shot several times and died.

Toney said Davis had placed a restraining order against Hunter, who had a history of domestic violence. Deputies suspect Hunter has fled in Davis’ vehicle, a gold 2005 Pontiac Grand Am, with a Louisiana license plate number OWR-700.

Toney said Hunter should be considered armed and dangerous and urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact local law enforcement agencies or the sheriff’s office at 329-1200.
