WATERTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - A 30-year-old man has admitted strangling his girlfriend and stuffing her body into a suitcase he dumped along a rural northern New York road.
Ramon Robles-Ruiz (ruh-MOHN' ROH'-blez-roo-EEZ') pleaded guilty Monday in Jefferson County Court to second-degree murder in connection with the December 2008 death of 33-year-old Annette Vazquez, a Watertown mother of 2 young girls.
Robles-Ruiz admitted through a Spanish language interpreter that he strangled Vazquez with his hands after an argument at his apartment in Watertown.
Her body wasn't found until March 23, 2009, about a month after Robles-Ruiz was arrested in his native Puerto Rico. He was returned to the United States last November.
Robles-Ruiz is expected to be sentenced in May to 20 years to life in state prison.
