Upland, IN: Upland couple dead after standoff

THE STAR PRESS

UPLAND - A standoff at a home in Upland ended late Thursday afternoon when police entered the house and found one person dead and another suffering from what authorities said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head.

Police confirmed the wounded person was Paul "Bryon" Nose, 42, who had held police at bay for several hours. He died before he could be flown to a Fort Wayne hospital.

Nose's 39-year-old wife, Amy, was found shot to death inside the house, belonging to her mother, at 644 W. North St.

Police entered the house about 5:30 p.m.

Officers have responded in the past to domestic disturbances involving the couple.

Upland police were sent to the North Street address at 7:10 a.m. after a 911 call reported shots fired in the house.

Grant County and Indiana State Police were also at the scene.
