Lancaster, KY: Man admits killing wife after release

A central Kentucky man has pleaded guilty but mentally ill in the brutal slaying of his wife.

LANCASTER, Ky. (AP) -- A central Kentucky man has pleaded guilty but mentally ill in the brutal slaying of his wife.

The Advocate Messenger in Danville reports 41-year-old Luther Creech of Lancaster admitted on Friday that he killed his wife in 2008, days after being released from a mental hospital.


The newspaper reports Garrard Circuit Judge Hunter Daugherty sentenced Creech to 24 years in prison.

Creech was arrested Nov. 26, 2008 after his wife, Courtney Creech, was found beaten, choked and stabbed inside the couple's apartment. The newspaper reports Luther Creech was released from Eastern State Hospital on Nov 21.
