KNOXVILLE — The live-in girlfriend of an elderly man found dead in his South Knox County home over the weekend was charged with second-degree murder today, according to authorities.
Vickie Perry, 50, is being held in the Knox County Jail on $250,000 bond in connection with the death of Roe Tolliver, 77.
Tolliver was found dead Saturday in his Deaderick Road home by his nephew, who told Knox County Sheriff’s Office detectives he became suspicious after not hearing from his uncle for two weeks and broke through a side window in the house.
An autopsy conducted today confirmed that Tolliver died of multiple stab wounds and blunt trauma, according to Martha Dooley, KCSO spokeswoman.
Perry was arrested in Strawberry Plains on theft charges after detectives found items missing from Tolliver’s home in her possession, Dooley said.
Perry was charged with murder after the autopsy.
Perry told police she and Tolliver had argued Jan. 24, according to Dooley.
