A Rochester man has been found guilty of intentionally killing his girlfriend by shooting her in the head.
Monroe County Court jurors late Tuesday convicted Tyrauice Fuqua, 23, of second-degree murder in the death of Cheylon Williams in Williams’ apartment at 820 E. Main St. on Dec. 24, 2007.
Fuqua faces a mandatory prison term ranging from 15 years to life to 25 years to life when Judge Richard A. Keenan sentences him Feb. 25, said Assistant District Attorney Melissa Meetze.
Williams, 34, was shot once between the eyes at point blank range with a .22-caliber rifle about 12:30 a.m. Her body was discovered two days later by family members who became concerned when they didn’t hear from her.
In her summation to jurors, Meetze argued that Fuqua masterminded the slaying with friends because he believed Williams set up a friend to be beaten and robbed during a party at her apartment.
Fuqua’s co-defendant, Timothy Simmons, 18, also is charged with second-degree murder and will be tried separately. The prosecution alleges that he acted as a lookout.
