TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)_ The family of a KU law student killed by her ex-boyfriend is picking up the torch in her fight against domestic violence.
Jana Mackey was a sexual assault and domestic violence advocate and was one of the youngest lobbyists working the Kansas capitol for the National Organization of Women.
Now, her family is moving her efforts forward with Jana's Campaign to Stop Violence Against Women. It is a group of almost 50 advocates dedicated to bringing the issue to the top of the public consciousness.
Mackey was found dead in the home of her ex-boyfriend Adolfo Garcia-Nunez in July of last year. He was arrested in New Jersey and hanged himself while awaiting extradition.
