SAN JUAN - A San Juan police officer and his wife are both dead after an apparent murder-suicide. But investigators say it's too early to disclose who pulled the trigger first.
Texas Rangers are helping in the investigation, since it involves a police officer. Jose Hernandez was an eight-year veteran of the San Juan Police Department.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS learned he and his wife, Rosa Maria, were both killed by single gunshot wound. Investigators say it's too early to tell if the officer's department-issued gun was the murder weapon.
San Juan Police Chief Juan Gonzalez described Hernandez as dependable, responsible, and helpful. Relatives describe his wife as a fun and loving mother.
Gonzales says, "Our preliminary investigation states they were having a conversation in the living room, but it's still early to tell... We are looking at all angles. The Texas Rangers will dictate what route we'll take with the investigation."
