Mia Nichols
HALETHORPE, Md. — The body of a woman found last Saturday in a wooded area in a Baltimore suburb has been identified as that of long-time Vineland resident Mia Nichols, Lt. Jim Monahan of the Baltimore County Police Department Homicide Unit said on Thursday.
Monahan said Nichols was identified using dental records. Her ex-boyfriend, Tyrone Lamont Webb, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder, Monahan said.
Police had suspected foul play in the disappearance. They initially questioned Webb, but released him without charging him.
A 38-year-old mother of three, Nichols was originally from Bridgeton, but moved to Vineland with her family at a young age.
She moved to Baltimore about 15 years ago, where she worked as an assistant administrator for Volunteers of America. Before being reported missing, she was last seen leaving her job on the afternoon of Oct. 28, 2008.
Her body was found in a wooded area of Windsor Mill, Md., which lies just west of Baltimore.
