A 37-year-old Montclair woman was arrested and charged with stabbing her boyfriend to death inside their home after an early morning argument, officials said.
Felicia Williams faces manslaughter and weapons charges in connection with the death of Herbert Spriggs, 47, around 4:45 Sunday morning, according to Thomas Fennelly, Essex County's chief assistant prosecutor.
Shortly after Spriggs and Williams became involved in an argument, the 37-year-old allegedly stabbed her boyfriend multiple times inside a residence in the 200 block of Claremont Avenue, Fennelly said. Spriggs drove himself to nearby Mountainside Hospital but collapsed as soon as he arrived. He died a short time later, Fennelly said.
Detectives were sent to Spriggs' home, where they found Williams and took her into custody as a person of interest in the stabbing. She was formally charged with manslaughter late Sunday afternoon, according to Fennelly.
Fennelly did not say what caused the argument between Spriggs and Williams, who remains at the Essex County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000.
