Lee-Ann worked as an assistant at Head Start in Hart and is remembered by staff there as a good mother. She and Timothy have two young children.
Timothy is now in the Oceana County Jail and bond has been denied.
Deputies and Hart City Police were dispatched to the scene at 214 S. Courtland St., Hart, about midday Dec. 29 where Lee-Ann Shannon was found dead in the bathtub.
Oceana County Sheriff's Lt. Craig Mast said Timothy attempted to report the incident as an accidental drowning, but following interviews police believe he intentionally drowned Lee-Ann and tried to make it look like an accident.
Timothy was arrested late Tuesday afternoon after police talked with him.
The Shannons were married in 2006.
Lee-Ann’s family talked to Hart Police Chief Dan Leimback after Lee-Ann’s death and told him things weren’t adding up. Leimbach asked the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office for assistance in the investigation, which led to his arrest Tuesday.
The Shannons have no known history of domestic violence, but police say the family said there were marital problems.
“It’s just a sad situation, very said,” Leimback told Oceana's Herald-Journal, the Ludington Daily News sister paper.
It’s the third homicide in Hart he can remember in his time on the department, since 1976.
Lee-Ann was a graduate of Spring Arbor College in 2001, earning her bachelor’s degree in early education.
She attended First Baptist Church of Hart.
