Baxley, GA: Baxley Husband Charged in Wife's Death

(Appling County, GA) A Baxley man who claimed intruders broke into his home and killed his wife is now charged with her murder.
26 year old Jonathan Courson told authorities early Friday morning that two black men had broken into his home, tied up both he and his wife and that his wife died as a result.
Appling County Benny Sheriff Deloach says his officers  and the GBI began focusing on Courson after further investigation into the details of the case.
After obtaining an attorney, Courson turned himself in at the Sheriff's office Tuesday evening.  He is charged with the murder of his wife, 28 year old Mandy Courson.
The sheriff says the community of Baxley is small and close knit and said he knows both families involved. Sheriff Deloach also tells News 3 that he will allow Courson to attend his wife's funeral tomorrow afternoon. "He will be in my custody," says Sheriff Deloach.
Mandy Courson was a local beautician and Jonathan Courson worked as a car salesman. Courson's boss of three years  told us that Johnathan came to work Thursday, the day before Mrs. Courson was killed. The employer said nothing seemed out of the ordinary that day.
Mr. Courson is in the Appling County Jail at this hour and may be arrainged on the murder charges later this week. Services for Mandy Courson are set for Thursday afternoon in Baxley.
