LIMA — A man who shot to death a woman with a protection order against him was indicted Friday in her slaying.
The Allen County indicted 48-year-old Timothy Brown, on charges of murder and having weapons while under disability, according to court records.
Police were called to a home at 218 W. Murphy St., on Oct. 3, over a shooting that may have started as a domestic dispute. Officers found 32-year-old Valeda Thomas dead. She died of a single gunshot to the head.
Brown is Thomas’ ex-boyfriend. A police lieutenant said there was a history of domestic violence with the couple and she did have a temporary protection order against him.
That protection order was granted by a either a magistrate or judge following a hearing in Common Pleas Court.
The slaying happened during October, which is domestic violence awareness month.
Thomas’ death marked the second in several months a woman was killed at the hands of her former boyfriend or husband. During the summer, Randy Glenn shot and killed his wife, Carlin Glenn and his daughter, Andrea Glenn at a home in Lima.
Carlin Glenn had filed a harassment complaint against her estranged husband just hours before her death. He drove from Georgia to Ohio to carry out the killings.
He then killed himself after shooting the women.
