LINCOLN HEIGHTS-- A young woman fatally shot in a murder-suicide attempt was identified Saturday as a 16 year old girl, and the man suspected of killing her was hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the torso.
Around 8:30 p.m. Friday in the 2400 block of South Daly Street, the man allegedly shot Maria Valderrama in the head. Valderrama died at the scene, according to a coroner's investigator.

The suspect was transported to County-USC Medical Center, where he remained Saturday.
It was unclear if the two lived together.
Police said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute.
Officials say a man shot his girlfriend to death Friday evening and unsuccessfully turned the gun on himself.
The man is in custody, say police.
They said the man shot his girlfriend in the head about 8:36 in the 2400 block of Daly Street.
Daly is near Pasadena Avenue and Avenue 26 in Lincoln Heights.
