DETROIT — A Wayne County jury has convicted a 33-year-old Flat Rock man of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his girlfriend.
George Michael Cobrea was found guilty of the Feb. 3 death of Patricia Louise Robertson, 48, of Garden City.
Cobrea’s trial began Oct. 29 and after four days of testimony and two days of deliberations he was found guilty Nov. 5.
His sentencing is set for 9 a.m. Friday.
Police were called to Cobrea’s mother’s house on Woodruff in Flat Rock on Feb. 3, where they found Robertson’s body in a car parked in the driveway. At the time, Cobrea was living with his mother and stepfather in the house, police said.
Robertson was in the front seat of the car. Her body was covered with a blue tarp and two black suitcases were stacked on top of her, police Sgt. Christopher Cook said.
Police broke a window to enter the car and discovered that Robertson was dead. She had suffered four stab wounds to her neck.
Cobrea came out of his mother’s house and was arrested without incident, Cook said.
Michigan State Police assisted in the investigation.
